Cuatrecasas advises on the acquisition of 65,2% Ampere Energy shares by Copec
Cuatrecasas has advised the Chilean multinational Copec on the acquisition of shares in Ampere Energy through a capital increase, an operation that has led it to become a majority shareholder with 65.2% of the Valencian company’s shares through its subsidiary Copec Overseas.
In 2019, Copec showed interest for the first time in Ampere Energy, taking a 13.5% stake in the company, a pioneer in the development of second-generation energy storage systems for residential, commercial and industrial photovoltaic installations. The innovative company stands out especially for including in its equipment, in addition to batteries, technology based on the use of artificial intelligence to monitor, manage and optimise consumption and solar production to ensure maximum efficiency in the process, as well as systems that enable the exchange of energy between energy communities.
With this operation, Copec has taken another step forward in its commitment to the Valencian company, aiming to boost its transformation process towards cleaner energy and focus its presence in the Latin American and other markets.
The Cuatrecasas team involved in the advice was led by mercantil partner Juan Grima, with the support of experts Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría, from the corporate governance and compliance area; Francisco Ferrandis, from the finance and tax area; and Ana Álvarez, Julene Areitio, Guido Samir, Megan Victoria Hackney and Lucía Trigo, from the mercantil area.
