Cuatrecasas advises CaixaBank on €800m Barclays deal

Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira advised CaixaBank on the €800m acquisition of Barclays Bank´s Spanish retail operations.

The acquisition means CaixaBank will incorporate Barclays´ retail banking, asset management and corporate banking operations in Spain. This gives CaixaBank  580,000 new customers and a network of 271 offices around Spain.The Cuatrecasas legal team advising CaixaBank was led by M&A partner Victor Xercavins, and included senior associate Marco Antonio Sanz, and tax partner Adolfo Rovira.
The deal further strengthens CaixaBank´s position in the Spanish retail market following its acquisitions of Banca Civica and Banco de Valencia.
