CMS, PLMJ and VdA on the sale and financing of Quinta da Comporta

Experimental Group, a French hospitality group, has acquired the Quinta da Comporta Hotel, in Portugal. Vieira de Almeida (VdA) has advised Experimental Group, while CMS Portugal has advised the owners of the hotel. The financing was arranged with TenFifty Capital, which was advised by PLMJ,

Experimental Group owns boutique hotels, bars and restaurants in Paris, London, Venice, Ibiza, Menorca, Biarritz, Verbier and the Cotswolds (UK). Opened in May 2019, Quinta da Comporta has become one of the region’s most iconic hospitality destinations, offering 61 luxury accommodation units.

VdA’s team was led by partners Pedro Pereira Coutinho (real estate & urban planning), Cláudia Cruz Almeida (corporate and m&a) and Benedita Aires (banking & finance) in relation to the financing. The team also included Francisco Cabral Matos (tax) and further comprised coordinating associate Pedro Morais Vaz (real estate & urban planning), senior associate Francisca de Landerset (tax), and associates Catarina Salgado e Castro (corporate and m&a), Chen Chen (banking & finance), Diogo Gambini Neves (corporate and m&a), Margarida Campelo (tax) and Teresa Prates Fernandes (banking & finance).

The multidisciplinary CMS Portugal team advising on the sale was led by partners João Caldeira (corporate m&a) and Patrick Dewerbe (tax), and also included senior associate André Guimarães (corporate m&a) and associates Francisca Pereira da Cruz (corporate m&a) and Rita Guerra Alves (corporate m&a).

The PLMJ’s by a team led by partner André Figueiredo, together with Luís Miguel Vasconcelos and André Gama Loureiro (all banking & finance), with support from the firm’s real estate, urban planning, litigation, tax and labour teams.
