Clifford Chance advises Mapfre on €1BN EMTN notes
The global law firm Clifford Chance has advised Mapfre on the establishment of its EMTN programme,
which has been registered with the Spanish Securities Market Commission and with AIAF fixedincome market. The programme enables Mapfre to access capital markets easily and in a flexible manner and provides for a variety of instrument. The law firm has also advised Mapfre on the two inaugural issuances under the programme: two senior notes issuances for an aggregate principal amount of EUR 1 billion.
According to Clifford Chance, this is a highly innovative transaction in Spain, marking the first EMTN programme registered with the CNMV by an insurance company.
The Clifford Chance team has been led by lawyer Francisco Pizarro (pictured), with support from María de Elizalde, Carlos Fierro and Juan Conde Pumpido. Miguel Barredo and Juan Valcárcel, from the firm’s insurance practice, also collaborated on the matter.
