Cláudia Leonardo joins Melo Alves as partner

Cláudia Leonardo (pictured) has joined Melo Alves as a partner and head of the litigation and arbitration practice in the Portuguese market. With 25 years of experience, she transits from Antas da Cunha Ecija, where she served as of counsel.

About Cláudia Leonardo

Cláudia Leonardo holds a law degree from the Faculty of Law at Universidade Lusíada and postgraduate degrees in European Studies from the European Institute of the Faculty of Law at the University of Lisbon, in Forensic Practice and Corporate Advisory from Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and in International Commercial Arbitration from the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary University of London.

Her main practice areas include litigation, particularly commercial litigation, mediation, and arbitration at both national and international levels. She has extensive experience in resolving civil and commercial disputes, especially in commercial and investment contracts and commercial arbitration.

A new name to the Asian Desk

At the beginning of the month, Melo Alves also welcomed a new associate, Sofia Li, to its Asian Desk, led by partner Jorge Chang. In this team, Li, who joins from SRS Legal, will focus on advising Asian investors on matters related to immigration and citizenship, real estate, labor law, and the negotiation and execution of joint ventures. A law graduate from Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Sofia Li is fluent in Portuguese, English, and Mandarin.
