Cláudia Freixinho Serrano appointed partner at NLP
NLP has appointed Cláudia Freixinho Serrano as partner. With experience in the field of pharmaceutical patent litigation and in the transactional side of intellectual property, she joined NLP in January 2025 after 13 years at PCA Advogados.
According to Joana Piriquito Santos, founding partner at NLP: “Over the past year, Cláudia has stood out for her professionalism, commitment, dedication to the project and alignment with the firm’s values, making a significant contribution to its growth. This appointment is therefore a fair recognition of the positive impact she has had on both the team and clients.”
Cláudia Freixinho Serrano began her career in litigation in 2003. Over the years, she has specialised in intellectual property litigation, providing legal and strategic advice across all areas of intellectual property and taking part in major disputes, particularly in patent matters. A significant part of her practice has been devoted to complex pharmaceutical patent proceedings, focusing on the defence of exclusive rights relating to innovative medicines.
She holds a law degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. She has a postgraduate qualification in corporate law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra and postgraduate qualifications and attendance, respectively, at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, in Intellectual Property Law and Pharmaceutical Law. She has also completed the European Patent Law Course and the university diploma “Patent Litigation in Europe”, both at CEIPI – Center for International Intellectual Property Studies.
She is an official industrial property agent, secretary-general of the Portuguese Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) until May 2025, and a lecturer in Civil Procedural Law and Intellectual Property courses.
