Cecília Meireles embraces new challenge outside law and politics

Lawyer and ex-congresswoman Cecília Meireles is leaving Cerejeira Namora, Marinho Falcão to take on a new professional project. After two years working as a partner at the Portuguese firm, Meireles will embrace a new professional challenge, outside of both law and politics, according to herself.

With a nearly 20-year parliamentary career, Cecília Meireles decided to leave the Assembly of the Republic, returning to law practice in 2022, when she joined Cerejeira Namora, Marinho Falcão. During her time at the firm, Cecília Meireles led the Lisbon office and the corporate social responsibility department, later being promoted to partner.

Her official departure will take place on September 30, when she will step down from her position at the firm to pursue a new professional challenge, which “will not be related to any area of law or legal practice in Portugal”, according to the lawyer, who has not disclosed yet her future plans.
