Ceca Magán increases its turnover 30 per cent in 2020

Ceca Magán Abogados closes 2020 with a turnover of €11.5 million, a 30% increase compared to 2019

In this complex 2020, the Labour Law department has undoubtedly been the core business area with a growth of 47.65 per cent compared to the previous year. “The cornerstones to being able not just to maintain our activity but actually improve this past year have been the swift response to the constant legislative changes taking place, our permanent support and customer service (we are available almost 24 hours a day) to clients who needed answers for the numerous queries that came up week after week, and of course, always offering competitive rates within the market,” stated Esteban Ceca, managing partner of the firm.

In addition, this past year, top-level recruitments have also been key to the growth and consolidation of the Insolvency and Restructuring department, which has positioned itself as the area with the second-highest turnover in the firm, led by Manuela Serrano, managing partner of this department, who joined in January 2020. Also, in September 2020, Javier Fernández Cuenca, partner of the Tax Law practice and current director of this business unit, joined the firm. “Both incorporations have been crucial to achieve the qualitative leap that the firm expects from its new partners and new hires,” Esteban Ceca pointed out. These hirings strengthen the firm by offering a comprehensive service focused mainly on providing Legal support to companies in any field.

At a Corporate level, the firm has reinforced its responsibility at an internal level, not needing to implement any layoffs or furloughs schemes on any of our staff this past year. While they were already committed to a modern and more agile decision-making structure, the preventive measures implemented in recent months have led us to take a leap forward in terms of working remotely and labour flexibility. As Esteban Ceca said: “We have seen that remote work is a reality that is here to stay in our firm and in companies in general; in our case, we were already prepared for it when the State of Alarm was declared in March 2020, taking into account that we had had a policy in place for 20 per cent of the workforce since the end of 2019, which allowed us to test glitches beforehand and be fully operational.”

The firm, founded by Esteban Ceca Magán in 1973, currently has more than 120 professionals to cover its nine different service units across its offices in Madrid, Barcelona and Tenerife.

International coverage is also one of the lines promoted in 2020. The firm currently offers coverage in more than 150 countries through its global networks, having joined the prestigious and renowned international alliance FLI – First Law International – at the end of 2020 and being its only representative in Spain.

For Esteban Ceca Gómez-Arevalillo (pictured), managing partner of the firm, “these figures are an important team success, we are especially proud for having been able to retain all of our human talent and virtually all of our client portfolio.”

This year, the company remains committed to growth with the opening of a fourth office in Seville to provide greater national coverage, the recruitment of top management in areas with the greatest business potential and the consolidation of ongoing projects.
