From a labor boutique to a multidisciplinary firm

The distribution by areas is increasingly homogeneous, consolidating the firm’s plan and strategy in its transition from a labor boutique to a multidisciplinary firm of reference in business law.

The labour area represents 36.5% of the firm’s turnover, achieving a turnover of 7.3 million euros and a growth of 19% compared to 2022. The second position is for the corporate area, representing 22.4% of the total turnover, with a turnover of 4.5 million euros and, the areas of tax law and procedural law share the podium by turnover.

In 2023, the firm has made important additions of partners, especially reinforcing the commercial area. Partners César Álvarez, Miguel Lobón, and the aforementioned Javier Romano have joined the firm. José María Labadía and Juan Carlos Alfonso have also joined the firm during the year as partners in the areas of labor law and public and regulatory law, respectively, both in the Madrid office.

The firm has accumulated a turnover increase of more than 402% in the last decade, having tripled its staff. Its staff currently comprises more than 130 lawyers -35 of them partners- and a total of more than 170 professionals in its offices in Madrid, Barcelona, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Tenerife, Seville and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. In 2024 the firm plans to open in Galicia, in the city of Vigo, which will be led by the recently incorporated partner Javier Romano.

Twelve years after opening its first office in Barcelona in 2012 by the hand of José Nicolás de Salas, it has just opened its new offices in Barcelona on the 5th floor of the Zurich Diagonal Building at Avenida Diagonal number 601.

The Barcelona office has doubled its revenues in 2023, from €1.7M in 2022 to €3.5M in 2023. Thus, Barcelona’s revenue in relation to the Group has increased from 10% in 2022 to 17% in 2023. The number of employees has already exceeded 30 professionals.

The 2023 financial year in Barcelona has been marked by the incorporation of partner Miguel Lobón to the team and he has participated in advising on more than 20 M&A transactions worth more than 100 million euros, which together with other factors have contributed to the change of location.

Barcelona has been the office that has grown the most in 2023 under the leadership of managing partner Santiago Torent, who took the reins at the end of 2022. In his words “As a team we have the firm determination to continue growing and expanding in Barcelona. Ceca Magán as a project fits perfectly with the special idiosyncrasies of the profession in Barcelona and is the key to the growth we are experiencing. Celebrating now the inauguration of the new offices in Barcelona, is a firm commitment of this firm to be a reference office in Barcelona”.

Esteban Ceca, finally points out “Towards 2024? We set ourselves the following goal of 25 million euros in 2 years and aim at 30 million before 2027, which was the deadline we set ourselves last year in the new roadmap. To grow yes, but with the right people for it, who add and join our own style when it comes to being lawyers and practicing law with that style that the sector recognizes as the #EstiloCeca.”
