CCSL & Andersen advise on sale of Closer to Smart4

CCSL Advogados and Andersen advised the Portuguese business Closer Consulting, a leading company in the data and AI sector, on the sale of its business to the French group Smart4 Engineering.

The team from CCSL, led by Mafalda Almeida Carvalho (pictured left) and Frederico Félix Alves, partner and of counsel from the corporate and M&A practice, was also made up of Margarida Bragança and Catarina Flor Ferreira. This team advised on all the legal and corporate aspects of the deal.

Andersen’s team, coordinated by partner Gonçalo Cid (pictured right) and also including Hugo Gomes and Beatriz Graça, advised on the structuring and tax component of the transaction.

Founded in 2006, Closer currently has more than 350 professionals in its offices in Portugal, Brazil and the UK and with this deal, it becomes the first Portuguese company to join Smart4 Engineering, maintaining the autonomy of its operation and expanding its Data Science and Artificial Intelligence services. Closer ended the last financial year with a turnover of around 18 million euros.
