CCSL advises Viriato on acquiring Effisus
Viriato Capital acquired Effisus, a company based in Portugal and with offices in the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
Effisus was founded in Famalicão, in 2005, by Pedro Carvalho and Paulo Carvalho, and develops and sells integrated solutions for civil construction, in order to promote the energy efficiency of buildings and guarantee the tightness and fire protection of facades and roofs. buildings. Effisus’ waterproofing solutions can be applied in numerous situations, from covering the facades of skyscrapers to stopping leaks in gutters, skylights, window trims, joints and perforations.
Effisus closed 2023 with a turnover of more than 10 million euros. Exports represent the majority of the company’s turnover, whose main international markets are the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Spain. Effisus currently has around 40 workers, divided between Portugal, the United Kingdom and Dubai.
Its portfolio of unique systems in the world for covering building facades and roofs includes dozens of projects, such as the Apple headquarters in California, the iconic Museum of the Future and the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai, the Museum of Guggenheim in Abu Dhabi, Google’s new headquarters in Dublin, the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid, Hudson Yards in New York, Battersea Power Station in London or the Riyadh Metro in Saudi Arabia. Viriato Capital, led by Miguel Costa Freire and Pablo Alvarez Guerra, is an independent investment company made up of national and international investors, and is dedicated to investing in robust, healthy companies with high growth potential. The investment in Effisus falls within the scope of Viriato Capital’s strategy, and aims to enhance the company’s growth, strengthening its position in current markets and encouraging the opening of additional markets. Viriato Capital will also support the path followed by Effisus in the development of solutions that contribute to greater sustainable energy efficiency in buildings and consequent preservation of the environment – the name Effisus derives precisely from the combination of the words “Efficiency and Sustainability”, efficiency and sustainability.
Miguel Costa Freire and Pablo Alvarez Guerra will join and lead the current Effisus management team, contributing with their experience and know-how in management, strategic consultancy and finance, accumulated, among others, in multinationals such as McKinsey & Co., J.P. Morgan, Bain & Co. and Nestlè. The founders of Effisus, Paulo Carvalho and Pedro Carvalho, will remain on the Effisus team.
