Bird & Bird launches Spanish real estate practice with hire of Broseta partner

Bird & Bird has established a real estate practice in Spain with the hire of Isidro del Moral from Broseta Abogados.

A Bird & Bird statement said that, by recruiting Del Moral, the firm would be able to combine its expertise in real estate, hotels & leisure, and franchising to “take advantage of the increasing interest from international investors and family offices”.

Del Moral was appointed head of the commercial law department at Broseta in April this year. Prior to that, he was head of the firm’s real estate department. Before joining Broseta, Del Moral was a partner at Baker & McKenzie.

Del Moral’s expertise includes acting for investors and family offices on real estate transactions including the acquisition of office buildings, shopping centres, real estate portfolios and sale and lease-back operations. He also has experience in the hotel sector having advised companies on the purchase or sale of hotels, as well as on leases and hotel management matters.

Del Moral also has expertise related to the distribution sector having worked in an in-house counsel role for a Spanish food and drinks company.

Also joining Del Moral at Bird & Bird is Broseta senior associate, and real estate specialist, Jacobo Sanchez-Andrade.

Jesus Vega, managing director of Bird & Bird’s Madrid office said: “We are very excited about the addition of Isidro, not only to provide us with world class expertise in his areas of specialisation such as housing and food, but also to continue to deliver our ambitious project to develop our network nationally and internationally to continue the strategic growth plan of the Madrid office.”
