Bird & Bird adds new partner from Cazorla Abogados

Bird & Bird has bolstered its Energy & Utilities group with the hire of Alfonso Bayona as partner in Madrid

Alfonso Bayona (pictured) joins international law firm Bird & Bird from Cazorla Abogados, where he was partner and head of the Financing and Projects practice. Prior to this, Alfonso worked at Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC), Uría Menéndez and at Hogan Lovells as a senior associate within the Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructures sector group. He also previously worked as counsel at Bird & Bird for five years. As an Energy Law specialist, Alfonso advises on Corporate, Contractual and Financial matters. This includes market-leading infrastructure, energy and utilities transactions, Project Financing, implementation of Corporate Restructuring operations, Commercial Litigation and the drafting and negotiation of contracts for a range of clients in Spain and internationally.

Alfonso is a Law graduate from Universidad de Alicante and holds an LLM in Law and Management of Information Technologies from the Facultés Universitaires Notre Dame de la Paix and a certificate programme in Business Law from Berkeley University.

His incorporation follows the recent hirings of TMT partner Joaquín Muñoz and Insurance partners Luis Alfonso Fernández and Virginia Martínez.
