Bioiberica obtained the certification last March 2022, after intense work led by its compliance team.

Criminal compliance is made up of processes, controls and tools that provide greater control and vigilance in the prevention of criminal risk within an organization, thus avoiding potential sanctions and/or convictions. That is why Bureau Veritas is committed to the use of this standard since it allows the implementation of Criminal Compliance Management Systems, not only respectful of Spanish legal requirements, but also aimed at meeting the expectations placed on organizations that operate in international markets, as is the case of Bioiberica, which is present in more than 80 countries.

The audit process, carried out by Bureau Veritas, which became the first entity accredited by the National Accreditation Entity (ENAC) for the UNE 19601 certification of the Criminal Compliance Management System, serves as a mechanism for evaluating the correct implementation of this standardized management model. Developing a customized management system for Bioiberica that meets the requirements of the standard has been a challenge for the organization. The spirit of the company has led to a greater awareness of the importance that these systems can have in the responsibility of organizations. The company is operating in an extremely regulated sector, and the company has always complied with the legal requirements of public administrations, which has facilitated the assessment of criminal risks related to its activity and the strengthening of the controls that were already in place.

Bioiberica has been committed to the certification of its systems and processes with Bureau Veritas for more than 7 years. It has a Management System in accordance with ISO 9000 and ISO14001 certification; It also has the CSR Management certification based on SDGs, the EMAS III environmental certification, the 45001 for occupational health and safety and the 50001 for energy efficiency, among others.

For Jordi Vidal (pictured right), CFO and Compliance Officer of Bioibérica, “Obtaining this certification has meant recognition of the intense work carried out by the entire compliance team, which in turn has required the involvement and dedication of the entire company. Our main objective has been to develop and promote a culture of compliance, in line with the strictest ethical and regulatory standards. We are proud of this recognition, which undoubtedly encourages us to continue working and striving to improve and expand our Compliance Management System”.

For Teresa Rodon (pictured left), Commercial Director and CSR and Environment Manager at Bureau Veritas Spain and Portugal, “the certification of the Criminal Compliance Management System demonstrates Bioiberica’s commitment to complying with applicable legislation, sectors codes, internal standards and good governance rules and consolidates the ethical and performance culture throughout the organization, reinforcing the company’s position to be a successful and sustainable organization”.
