Baker McKenzie names Lois Caeiro partner in Spain
Baker McKenzie has appointed Lois Caeiro as partner in its employment practice in Spain, marking his progression within the firm after more than 15 years advising national and international clients on labour matters. The promotion is part of a broader global round in which the firm elevated 47 lawyers to partner level, effective 1 July 2026 — with the exception of certain locations in the Americas, including North America, where promotions took effect earlier in the year.
Lois Caeiro joined Baker McKenzie in 2009. His practice covers the management of employment relationships, including risk identification, the design and implementation of complex labour solutions, contract drafting and negotiation, and labour compliance investigations. He has developed particular expertise advising technology sector companies navigating high-innovation and rapidly changing environments.
Caeiro has extensive experience supporting businesses through growth, reorganisation and corporate transactions with an international dimension, as well as managing complex employment disputes before the Supreme Court and the National Court. Throughout his career he has coordinated international teams on multidisciplinary and multi-jurisdictional projects, and has worked in Baker McKenzie’s offices in Chicago, London and Stockholm. He also teaches on the master’s programme for access to the legal profession at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
Leadership commentary
Rodrigo Ogea and Mireia Sabaté, co-managing partners of Baker McKenzie in Madrid and Barcelona respectively, said: “We are delighted with Lois’s appointment as a new partner at Baker McKenzie in Spain. His promotion strengthens the depth of our labour team, particularly at a time of increasing regulatory complexity and ongoing transformation of the employment landscape. His experience and market knowledge will be key as we continue to support our clients in their most strategic employment challenges.”
Across the firm’s global network, the 47 promotions were concentrated primarily in the Transactional practice, followed by Litigation & Arbitration, Commercial and Tax. Women account for 43% of this year’s partner promotions. In addition to internal promotions, Baker McKenzie brought in 44 lateral partner hires during fiscal year 2026, bringing the total number of new partners globally to 91.
