Baker McKenzie incorporates José Antonio Pérez as real estate partner

Baker McKenzie has integrated José Antonio Pérez (Jap) into its Barcelona office. The new partner, who will lead the real estate department, is a reference in the real estate sector -particularly in real estate- and has a solid experience of 25 years in advising funds, developers and national and international operators in the areas of retail, residential, health, hotel and industrial real estate.

Mireia Sabaté, co-managing partner of Baker McKenzie in Spain, confirmed that José Antonio “reinforces an area with a strong active presence in our country, with clear growth and increasingly specialized by subsectors. His experience in different professional environments will undoubtedly complement one of the most complete and solid teams at national level, known for our advice in sectors such as hospitality, health, offices and retail, as well as for representing both investors, operators and tenants and international funds and banks in real estate financing operations”.

Pérez combines a professional career in leading national real estate law firms with experience as in house general counsel and, finally, as founder of “Jap”, a boutique specialized in real estate (both in transactions and asset management) with a strong commitment to efficiency through the use of Legaltech. This integration means the incorporation of a total of three real estate lawyers.

The new partner says that joining Baker McKenzie “is a professional challenge, the opportunity to raise a professional practice in transactions and asset management to another level and make a great leap in a current environment with operations that have more and more edges and require more quality time and dedication of resources. Being part of a global firm like Baker McKenzie is a privilege”.

José Antonio holds a law degree from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (1996) and a Master’s degree from the Universitat de Barcelona (2000). Member of the Union Internationale des Avocats (2004), he chaired the Real Estate Law commission of the Union Internationale des Avocats from 2014 to 2019. He has been a professor of the Master in International Law at ISDE since 2018.
