Baker & McKenzie advises Atlético Madrid on €35m Martinez transfer

Baker & McKenzie advised Atlético Madrid on the signing of Futebol Clube do Porto striker Jackson Martinez. 

The Colombian international player joined Atlético on a four-year deal worth €35 million.

Martinez joined the Portuguese team three years ago for €10 million, scoring 92 goals in 133 games.

With the ‘Dragões’, he won the league championship in the 2012-13 season, and won the Portuguese Super Cup twice in 2012 and 2013. He has also been top scorer in Portugual´s top division for the last three seasons.

Baker & McKenzie advised Atlético Madrid on the negotiation of the terms and conditions of Martinez’s contract. 

The Baker & McKenzie team was led by Madrid partner David Diaz and senior associate Maheta Molango.

Earlier this month, Baker & McKenzie advised the Belgian international defender Toby Alderweireld on his transfer from Atlético to Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.
