Iberian Lawyer Labour Awards 2020 – Portugal

Labour lawyers, as guardians of the rules of the game in the dynamics between work’s supply and demand, together with the human resources management operators of the companies, constitute one of the founding components of the social framework of the system.

Iberian Lawyer Labour Awards is an initiative promoted by Iberian Legal Group, (iberianlawyer.com), with the purpose, among other things, of stimulating competitiveness amongst law firms and lawyers of Portugal focus on the labour practice area and recognize the excellence of the private practice lawyers and the firms, experts in the labour sector.

These excellences among labour private practice lawyer and firms will be recognize on 21st April 2021 during the gala ceremony.

ART. 1 – Promoter, purpose and period of validity:

It is an initiative promoted by Iberian Legal Group, (iberianlawyer.com), with the purpose, among other things, of stimulating competitiveness amongst law firms and lawyers focus on the labour practice area and recognize the excellence of the private practice lawyers and the firms, experts in the labour sector.

The Initiative is governed by the rules indicated below.

ART. 2 – Rules for participation and selection: participation in the Initiative is reserved for lawyers in private practice / law firms

• Working in Portugal;
• Working on the Portuguese Market from abroad.

Candidates will be preliminarily identified through submission forms (the deadline for entry submissions is January 20th 2020, 23:59h CET), together with a research process carried out by Iberian Lawyer research team. References from clients will be very valuable. Finalists could be included in one or more categories.

A list of finalist for each category will be published as a result of the intelligence process. The Jury members will be the only ones responsible for the final assessment.


PHASES TO SELECT THE FINALISTS

a. First phase: All submissions received will be examined by an Iberian Lawyer research team.The submission form should focus mainly on the main labour law matters carried out by the firm’s labour team or lawyers during last year. If any information on the submission is confidential, please indicate so. However, any information provided will not be disclosed without the prior authorization of the firm or lawyer.Submissions may be sent by the lawyer or by a representative of the firm.

During the market research, both data provided by the law firms and lawyers in the submissions and the information gathered by the market as a result of the intelligence process will be taken into consideration.

b. Second phase: Jury voting / Winner selection
The winners per category will be selected by the Jury and announced on the Gala night.

Iberian Lawyer will convene a jury that will be comprised of a selected group of General Counsel AND/OR Heads of Legal and Human Resources Managers with a good understanding of the sector as a representation of the market.

The jury members will be provided with a list of finalists in the different categories. Each member of the jury will be asked to indicate their preference by giving one vote for each category.

The winners will be determined by the votes of the jury.

ART. 3 – Communication of the finalists and winners: the list of finalists for each of categories will be published on the Iberian Lawyer website. However, the winners will be announced during the gala that will take place in the city of Lisbon on March 11th, 2021 (the location of the event will be indicated on our website).

ART. 4 – Award ceremony: Winners will be announced for each of the categories during the Gala ceremony. The award will not have a financial value, since it is a public recognition of purely symbolic nature. The award will be given to the best finalist by category, who will have to personally attend the Gala and collect it.

For the purpose of collecting the prize, the presence of the winner for the individual categories and/or at least one management representative of the winning team will be mandatory. In case of not being present at the ceremony, it will be considered as a waiver and will be passed to the second best scored.

Iberian Lawyer authorizes the finalists and winners to use the image rights linked to the “Iberian Lawyer Awards – Labour Portugal – 2020 edition”.

ART. 1 – Promoter, purpose and period of validity:

It is an initiative promoted by Iberian Legal Group, (iberianlawyer.com), with the purpose, among other things, of stimulating competitiveness amongst law firms and lawyers focus on the labour practice area and recognize the excellence of the private practice lawyers and the firms, experts in the labour sector.

The Initiative is governed by the rules indicated below.

ART. 2 – Rules for participation and selection: participation in the Initiative is reserved for lawyers in private practice / law firms

• Working in Portugal;
• Working on the Portuguese Market from abroad.

Candidates will be preliminarily identified through submission forms (the deadline for entry submissions is January 20th 2020, 23:59h CET), together with a research process carried out by Iberian Lawyer research team. References from clients will be very valuable. Finalists could be included in one or more categories.

A list of finalist for each category will be published as a result of the intelligence process. The Jury members will be the only ones responsible for the final assessment.


PHASES TO SELECT THE FINALISTS

a. First phase: All submissions received will be examined by an Iberian Lawyer research team.The submission form should focus mainly on the main labour law matters carried out by the firm’s labour team or lawyers during last year. If any information on the submission is confidential, please indicate so. However, any information provided will not be disclosed without the prior authorization of the firm or lawyer.Submissions may be sent by the lawyer or by a representative of the firm.

During the market research, both data provided by the law firms and lawyers in the submissions and the information gathered by the market as a result of the intelligence process will be taken into consideration.

b. Second phase: Jury voting / Winner selection
The winners per category will be selected by the Jury and announced on the Gala night.

Iberian Lawyer will convene a jury that will be comprised of a selected group of General Counsel AND/OR Heads of Legal and Human Resources Managers with a good understanding of the sector as a representation of the market.

The jury members will be provided with a list of finalists in the different categories. Each member of the jury will be asked to indicate their preference by giving one vote for each category.

The winners will be determined by the votes of the jury.

ART. 3 – Communication of the finalists and winners: the list of finalists for each of categories will be published on the Iberian Lawyer website. However, the winners will be announced during the gala that will take place in the city of Lisbon on March 11th, 2021 (the location of the event will be indicated on our website).

ART. 4 – Award ceremony: Winners will be announced for each of the categories during the Gala ceremony. The award will not have a financial value, since it is a public recognition of purely symbolic nature. The award will be given to the best finalist by category, who will have to personally attend the Gala and collect it.

For the purpose of collecting the prize, the presence of the winner for the individual categories and/or at least one management representative of the winning team will be mandatory. In case of not being present at the ceremony, it will be considered as a waiver and will be passed to the second best scored.

Iberian Lawyer authorizes the finalists and winners to use the image rights linked to the “Iberian Lawyer Awards – Labour Portugal – 2020 edition”.
