Atlético Madrid advised by Baker & McKenzie on Luis and Savic signings

Baker & McKenzie advised Atlético Madrid in relation to the signings of defenders Filipe Luis from Chelsea and Stefan Savic from ACF Fiorentina.

Luis has signed for the Spanish club on a four-year deal valued at €16 million, while Savic arrives at the Vicente Calderón in a five-year €12 million deal.

Luis joined the London team one year ago from Atlético Madrid. From 2010 – when he arrived at Atlético Madrid from Deportivo La Coruña – until 2014, the 29-year-old defender played 184 games and won five trophies: the Spanish League (2013-14), the Copa del Rey (2012-13), one UEFA Europa League (2011-12) and two UEFA European Super Cups (2010 and 2012).

Savic joined ACF Fiorentina three years ago for £5.6 million (€7.9 million). The 24-year-old began his career with the Serbian club BSK Borča during the 2008/09 season. After progressing through the ranks at Partizan Belgrade and Manchester City – where he won the Premier League – Savic signed for ACF Fiorentina in August 2012.

The advice provided by Baker & McKenzie on the two transfers included the negotiation of the terms and conditions of Luis and Savic’s contracts.

The Baker & McKenzie team advising on the deals was led by Madrid partner David Diaz and senior associate Maheta Molango.
