Ashurst and Perkins Coie merge into Ashurst Perkins Coie

Ashurst and Perkins Coie have completed their combination to create Ashurst Perkins Coie, a globally integrated law firm with a stated focus on technology, energy and infrastructure, and financial services.

The newly combined firm operates across 52 offices in 20 countries and regions, with more than 950 partners and approximately 3,500 professionals, and is headquartered in Seattle, London, Sydney and New York.

Deal details

The combination brings together two firms with shared backgrounds in early technology adoption, including artificial intelligence, and establishes a platform designed to serve clients navigating complex cross-border transactions, litigation and regulatory matters. Ashurst Perkins Coie will operate through eight divisions structured around market opportunities, client needs and the firm’s capabilities across sectors, practice areas and operations.

The firm also operates a consulting arm, Ashurst Perkins Coie Risk Advisory, which was founded in Australia in 2020 and has since expanded to the United Kingdom, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Asia. The advisory division comprises approximately 100 risk consultants and provides integrated solutions to clients managing the complexities of global business operations. Its services are distinct from legal advice and are not provided by lawyers acting in that capacity.

Leadership structure

Bill Malley and Paul Jenkins serve as co-global CEOs of Ashurst Perkins Coie, with Karen Davies and Brian J. Eiting as co-global chairs. The leadership team had been announced prior to the completion of the combination.

Bill Malley, co-global CEO, noted that the firm is focused on the sectors driving global economic transformation — particularly technology, energy and infrastructure, and financial services — and that as artificial intelligence increasingly connects these sectors, the firm is positioned to help clients navigate that convergence.

Paul Jenkins, co-global CEO, stated that the firm enters the market with the scale, capability and sector specialisation needed to combine deep global market knowledge with practical execution for clients facing complex cross-border challenges.

Karen Davies, co-global chair, emphasised that the firm’s success will be defined by its people, with lawyers and business professionals across all offices sharing a commitment to collaboration, sound judgment and client service.

Brian J. Eiting, co-global chair, highlighted the firm’s history of innovation — from the early days of the aerospace industry to the establishment of the NewLaw model — as a foundation on which Ashurst Perkins Coie will continue to build.
