Araoz & Rueda appoints Ángel Alonso as partner to lead the Restructuring and Insolvency department

Araoz & Rueda has appointed Ángel Alonso as partner in charge of the Special Situations, Restructuring and Insolvency department of the firm, with the aim of strengthening this practice area of the firm. With the incorporation, the firm now has a total of 13 partners and more than 50 professionals.

Alonso has spent most of his career, more than twenty-five years, at Uría Menéndez, where he was named partner in 2009. The new partner has specialized in all types of opportunistic or crisis situations (special situations), restructuring plans, investments in assets and liabilities of companies in distressed situations (distressed credit and distressed M&A) and, in general, in insolvency matters, having advised all parties in these processes (debtors, special sits funds, traditional financiers, etc.), in cases of great relevance and with a special international component.

He is currently part of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Chapter of Turnaround Management Association (TMA), of which he was president in the period between 2016 and 2017. Recognized as a “Recommended Individual” in the area of Restructuring and Insolvency in the main legal directories, in 2019 he received the Notewhorthy Spanish Restructuring Award granted by the prestigious directory Global Restructuring Review (GRR).
