Aquila Capital instructs King & Wood Mallesons on Barcelona real estate deal

King & Wood Mallesons advised German fund Aquila Capital on the acquisition of a residential real estate development in Sant Cugat del Vallés, a northern suburb of Barcelona.

Aquila Capital is part of the Aquila Group, which has offices in Europe and the Asia-Pacific and manages assets valued at more than €8 billion.

King & Wood Mallesons partner Enrique Isla said: “The success of this transaction is another example of international investors’ growing interest in the Spanish residential real estate sector, particularly in Madrid and Barcelona.

“We are frequently seeing this kind of investment adopt a joint venture approach with national real estate companies.”

The King & Wood Mallesons team in Spain advising on the deal included senior associate Marta Orce, as well as associates Víctor Vilaboa, Carlos Trueba and Victoria Ruenes.

Aquila Capital acquired the development from Tafecsados, which was advised by Agora Abogados on the deal.
