Andersen appoints Ignacio Sáenz as European real estate head
Ignacio Sáenz de Santamaría, partner at Andersen Iberia, has been appointed European head of real estate, a role he will share with Kevin Hindley of Andersen UK. They both succeed Philip Zschaler of Andersen in Germany, who has led the practice for the past seven years.
The appointment was announced at the 7th Annual Meeting of the EU real estate Industry Group, held in Istanbul, where 45 Andersen real estate professionals from 13 countries discussed the main trends and challenges facing the real estate sector.
On the occasion of the appointment, José Vicente Morote, managing partner of Andersen Iberia, stated that “his appointment reflects his level of excellence”, adding that “his extensive experience in complex real estate transactions enables him to share knowledge that enriches the rest of the firm’s professionals”.
For his part, Ignacio Sáenz de Santamaría commented: “I take on this responsibility with great enthusiasm and with the commitment to continue strengthening collaboration among Andersen’s real estate teams in Europe, bringing an integrated and client-focused approach to a sector as strategic and dynamic as real estate.”

A law graduate from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE), Ignacio Sáenz de Santamaría is a partner in the real estate practice at Andersen’s Madrid office and coordinator of the firm’s tourism & hospitality industry group. Over the course of his more than 20-year career, he has specialised in sale and purchase transactions, leasing and sale and leaseback transactions, as well as in the acquisition of real estate companies and the financing of investments in the sector. He also has experience in technical and construction contracts, forward funding and forward purchase transactions, and in advising SOCIMIs.
