ANDEMA Celebrates 35th Annual Assembly with Focus on IP
The Association for the Defense of the Brand (ANDEMA) held its 2024 general assembly today, where, in addition to approving the entry of more than a dozen new associates, it was announced that the Spanish association will be part of the leadership of the Global Anti-Counterfeiting Group, occupying one of the vice presidencies for the next three years.
For 35 years, 8 companies with a strong commitment to branding and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce created an association for the protection and defense of industrial property. Today, with more than 90 associates from all sectors of the economy, the association celebrates its annual assembly with the aim of consolidating all the activity launched in 2022 and 2023.
According to Rosa Tous, president of ANDEMA, during her speech, “In addition to hosting the first European Forum on Industrial Property held in Spain and working on cutting-edge issues such as brand vulgarization, the use of bottles by the hospitality industry, or the Digital Services Act, we can say that we are starting 2024 with good prospects for ANDEMA’s projection abroad by occupying the vice presidency of the Global Anti-Counterfeiting Group.”
The association begins a rotating three-year term in the vice presidency of the GACG along with INDICAM – the Italian association for the protection of industrial property – and under the presidency of UNIFAB – the French association. “Three key countries joining forces to lead brand protection and defense at the European and international levels,” Tous highlighted.
ANDEMA also welcomed 13 new associates today: Multiópticas, Lola Casademunt, Fundación Querer, Benito Urban, The Social Hub, Cosentino, Vinos Auténticos, Romero Polo, Nieves Energía, Mesa del Tabaco, Torrons Vicens, Munich, and Xiaomi. Some of them have joined the association thanks to the new modalities approved at the 2023 assembly. “We have gained visibility at the institutional, business, and media levels, which opens doors for us and facilitates our daily work and the achievement of our objectives,” said Gerard Guiu, general manager of ANDEMA.
After the assembly session with ANDEMA associates, where the association’s budget for 2024 and the action plan to continue its growth were approved, an institutional session was held with the closing remarks by the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu as well as representatives from the Madrid City Council, OEPM, Madrid Municipal Police, Civil Guard, Attorney General’s Office, Customs, and the Embassy of the United States, among others.
