Álvaro Membrillera leaves Paul Weiss to join Kirkland & Ellis
A major signing in the City with a Spanish lawyer in the limelight. The world’s largest law firm by revenue, Kirkland & Ellis -which last year had a turnover of $6,514 million- has signed Álvaro Gómez de Membrillera, who is a Spanish lawyer. Membrillera was managing partner of the London office of Paul Weiss, as well as a commercial partner.
His practice focuses on M&A and leveraged transactions, particularly in the private equity space. He has led teams representing private equity firms on a broad range of complex, cross-border matters including public to privates, consortium deals, minority investments, carve outs and disposals. Resident in London since 2002, Álvaro Membrillera has extensive experience in transactions across a wide range of European jurisdictions for KKR, General Atlantic, BC Partners and other private equity funds. He has been named one of Europe’s “50 Most Influential Lawyers” by Financial News in 2022 and 2023. He has been listed as one of the “20 Most Influential Private Equity Lawyers” by Private Equity News in 2023, a “Top Private Equity Lawyer in EMEA” by MergerLinks in 2022 and has been recognized by The Legal 500 for his work on private equity transactions.
