Allen & Overy litigation & bankruptcy partner leaves for Linklaters

Linklaters has hired Allen & Overy’s litigation, bankruptcy and arbitration specialist Borja Fernández de Trocóniz as a partner in its Madrid office.

 

He will officially join Linklaters in mid-December.

Fernández de Trocóniz joined Allen & Overy in 2007 and became a partner in 2012. His previous roles included head of legal services at Barclays Bank in Spain form 2005 to 2007.

His expertise includes litigation in connection with the marketing of financial products such as structured notes, preferred shares and derivatives. He has also handled cases involving damages for breach of contract, directors’ liabilities, regulatory investigations and challenges to corporate decisions, appearing before both courts of justice and arbitration courts.  

Linklaters senior partner Sebastian Albella said: “Borja Fernández de Trocóniz is a first-rate litigator. It will be an important hire for our insolvency and arbitration team, which has experienced a significant increase on activity – it is an area we consider crucial and which Linklaters globally is giving top priority. “
