Ex-Alas Legal Advisors trio launch Kepler-Karst law firm in Madrid

Led by Restructuring and Insolvency expert Davinia Sánchez, Kepler-Karst opens its doors in Madrid

The firm, with offices in Madrid (Paseo de la Castellana), has been launched by ex-Alas Legal Advisors Davinia Sánchez (pictured centre), Eduardo Frutos (pictured right) and José María Betancor (pictured left), who are now partners of the new firm.

The firm puts its expertise at the service of its sectors of specialisation at a national and international level, among which the trade, construction, financial, transport and tourism sectors stand out, among others.

The new law firm is prepared to assist companies on Labour issues, Mergers, Restructuring, Antitrust or Criminal proceedings, among others. “We are experts in Business Law and dare to do anything. We are committed to a Legal practice where transparency, honesty and clarity for our clients are paramount. We want them to feel accompanied and safe, and this is achieved by controlling the process from within, without the need to refer matters to other firms, and by having a team that can be trusted,” added Sánchez, president and partner of the firm.

Kepler-Karst’s Restructuring and Insolvency Department covers the entire vertical of this specialisation, offering top-level solutions in restructuring, debt refinancing, creditors’ agreements, purchase and sale of productive units, directors’ and executives’ responsibilities and Legal advice to companies in pre-Insolvency or Insolvency, both economic and patrimonial, as well as in the complementary areas of Banking, Financial and Tax Law.
In turn, the Business Law area allows the firm to provide a multidisciplinary service. Its offer extends to all services related to Commercial and Corporate Law -including M&A operations-, Procedural Law, Economic Criminal Law, Real Estate Law, Labour Law, Tax Law and Competition Law.

Eduardo Frutos, an expert in Corporate Legal advice to companies in Spain, Germany and the United Kingdom and partner in charge of the firm’s Commercial and Corporate department, stresses that “in the current times of uncertainty we are living, courageous, fast, proactive and really effective advice can make the difference and become a competitive advantage. We do not only want to be partners of our clients, but we also want to be a lever for growth.”

José María Betancor, partner and head of the Litigation area and expert in Insolvency Law, emphasises that “my experience as an insolvency practitioner has enabled me to see that in crises there are always opportunities, and this is the approach that we take in designing the various legal strategies and actions in different procedural instances that we carry out, but also seeking, as an indispensable condition, that these opportunities are aligned with the objectives of both our clients in the Legal department and their CEO.”

Among the firm’s future plans is its intention to expand its international presence both in the British market and in the southern United States.
