ADEMA organises the Second European Forum on IP
Barcelona is set to welcome over 200 industrial property experts from across Europe and beyond for the Second European Forum on Industrial Property, organized by the Spanish Association for Trademark Defense (ANDEMA). Supported by the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM), this major event will take place on November 21-22, aiming to foster collaboration on pressing issues in industrial property protection and strengthen Spain’s role in this field within Europe.
The forum will delve into a range of pivotal topics through panel discussions and expert-led sessions. Key themes include the coordination of European efforts against counterfeiting, challenges posed by artificial intelligence, and brand identity protection. The event will also address recent regulatory proposals on product packaging, as well as the EMPACT 2026 initiative, which seeks to improve police cooperation across Europe.
Casa Fuster will host the event, which aims to consolidate Barcelona as a hub for industrial property discussions. ANDEMA’s general director, Gerard Guiu, emphasized the importance of cross-sector cooperation, stating, “Our goal is to make Spain a leading voice in European industrial property by creating a space for open dialogue and fostering collaboration among all stakeholders. We believe cooperation is essential to effectively safeguard these rights and promote a strong foundation for future economic and societal development.”
The forum will be inaugurated by Rosa Tous, president of association, and a representative from the Generalitat de Catalunya. Closing remarks will be delivered by Spain’s Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, alongside João Negrão, Executive Director of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). Prominent attendees include representatives from European institutions like the European Commission and local entities such as the Barcelona City Council. International organizations such as the International Trademark Association (INTA), the European Brands Association (AIM), and the Union des Fabricants (UNIFAB) will also participate, alongside industry leaders such as TOUS, INDRA, HP, Cisco, OpSec Security, Ecoalf, Panasonic, Osborne, and Altadis. Security forces, including Europol, Spain’s National Police, and Barcelona’s local police, will join discussions on strengthening enforcement efforts.
Attendees will enjoy a well-rounded program that includes cultural activities, with visits to the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the FC Barcelona Museum. Sponsors of this edition include Indra, HP, Cisco, and OpSec Security, with Renfe serving as the official transportation provider.
