act legal advises Pilatus Aircraft Ibérica on land acquisition in Seville

act legal has advised Swiss plane manufacturer Pilatus Aircraft Ibérica on the acquisition of a 97,127-square-metre plot in Carmona, Seville, for a price of €12.1 million, for the purposes of building its first factory outside Switzerland.

The new factory will involve an investment exceeding €100 million and is expected to generate up to 500 jobs in Andalusia. The project includes a major fuselage wing and components structural assembly and system integration centre for private jets a customer service centre, a European logistics hub, a software development centre, and an engineering R&D centre.

The transaction was authorised by the Regional Government of Andalusia, which owns the land through the Andalusian Housing and Rehabilitation Agency (Agencia de Vivienda y Rehabilitación de Andalucía – AVRA), together with the Carmona Development Agency (Sociedad para el Desarrollo de Carmona – Sodecar).

Since summer 2022, Spain’s future military pilots have begun training with the world’s most advanced training system from Pilatus – the PC-21. The Next Generation Training System from Pilatus features exceptionally high-performance and state-of-the-art equipment. It is also far more cost-effective and fuel-efficient to operate than a jet trainer. With 40 aircraft, the Spanish Air Force (Ejército del Aire) is becoming the largest PC-21 operator in Europe. In addition to the aircraft, Spain also uses Pilatus’ ground-based training systems, which include simulators, mission planning, and debriefing tools, among others.

The advisory team at act legal Spain was led by Cristina de Santiago, managing partner of act legal Spain, and Jesús Redondo, director.
