Abreu Advogados hires new partner for its finance area 

Abreu Advogados has hired Pedro Ferreira Malaquias (pictured) as a new partner for its finance law practice area, coordinated by partners Diogo Pereira Duarte, José Maria Corrêa de Sampaio and Rodrigo Formigal. 

With nearly 40 years of experience in legal practice, Pedro Ferreira Malaquias was, until the end of 2022, a partner at Úria Menéndez-Proença de Carvalho, where he coordinated the financial department and was responsible for the Banking and Insurance areas. 

He graduated in Law from University of Lisbon, with a postgraduate degree in EU Law from the College d’Europe. He worked in the legal department of Banco Português do Atlântico, in the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission, and headed the legal department of Banco Comercial Português de Investimento. 

In addition to the finance law practice area, Malaquias will also integrate the banking and financial services; fintech and insurance sectors of Abreu Advogados.
