Abreu Advogados and PLMJ advise on the sale of Micronipol to Veolia
Abreu Advogados and PLMJ have advised on the acquisition of 100% of Micronipol – Plastics Recycling, a major company specialising in the Micronisation and Recycling of Polymers, from funds managed by Explorer Investments, a Portuguese venture capital company, to Veolia Portugal Group.
This acquisition is perfectly aligned with Veolia’s new “GreenUp” 2024-2027 strategic program, which aims to accelerate the green transformation, combat pollution, the scarcity of essential resources and support cities and industries in decarbonizing their activities.
In particular, it reinforces Veolia’s presence in Portugal in the waste sector, where it now carries out waste collection, transport, recycling and recovery activities, now adding the plastic recycling aspect.
Veolia Portugal’s acquisition of Micronipol from the Portuguese private equity firm was validated by the Competition Authority on April 30, after deciding that it “is not likely to create significant obstacles to effective competition in the domestic market.”
Abreu Advogados has advised Veolia Portugal group with a team led by Marta Romano de Castro, partner (pictured left), and had the support of professional partners Patricia Perestrelo and Madalena Bernardes Coelho and associates Benedita Pombo and Alexandra Jardim.
PLMJ has advised Explorer Investments with a team led by partner Tomás Almeida Ribeiro (pictured right) and included Carolina Inverno Branco, an associate, and Martinho Paour, a trainee lawyer, all from the corporate M&A practice.
