PBBR integrates Vasconcelos Advogados team

Portuguese law firms PBBR and Vasconcelos Advogados have completed an integration of their teams, which now operate under the PBBR brand. The move brings eight new lawyers, including three new partners, into PBBR’s ranks, taking the firm’s total headcount to 50 lawyers.

The integration follows a negotiation process between the two Lisbon-based firms, which identified overlapping practice areas and shared client-service policies as the basis for combining operations. Both organizations said they found alignment in principles and values regarding the practice of law, including a focus on client representation and internal management of people and organizational structure in line with the profession’s ethical standards.

Three lawyers join PBBR as partners as part of the integration. Duarte Vasconcelos will lead the corporate and M&A practice, João Peixe will coordinate the new technologies and intellectual property areas, and Felipe Ferreira will reinforce the real estate practice while also coordinating a newly created private clients area.

Expert commentary

Pedro Pinto, founding partner of PBBR, said the decision to combine the two teams “rests on a shared vision of the future of the legal profession and the development the firms aim to achieve in a legal market marked by growing dynamism, sophistication and demand”.

Duarte Vasconcelos, founding partner of Vasconcelos Advogados, said the goal is to “broaden and reinforce the firm’s capabilities and response capacity to clients’ increasingly sophisticated interests, becoming better equipped to advise on operations requiring greater technical demands or spanning multiple areas of practice”.

Pedro Pinto added that the firm is beginning “this new and ambitious cycle, expressing confidence the integration will support the firm’s growth”.
