Eskariam adds Covadonga Garralda and María Varela in litigation

Eskariam, a Madrid-based firm specialising in complex litigation and damages claims, has brought on board Covadonga Garralda as partner and María Varela as counsel. Both lawyers share a background in competition law and antitrust private enforcement, having participated in major litigation and damages proceedings before Spanish and European courts and regulatory bodies.

Covadonga Garralda joins from Cuatrecasas. Her practice focuses on complex litigation with an emphasis on antitrust private enforcement. She also holds teaching positions at Universidad Pontificia Comillas-ICADE and the Centro de Estudios Garrigues.

María Varela has a background in competition law and EU law, built at specialised firms including Mlab Abogados and, previously, Roca Junyent. Her practice spans both national and international dimensions, covering proceedings before the Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia, other regional competition authorities, the European Commission, the General Court, and the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Strategic context

David Fernández, CEO of Eskariam, noted that the two hires “reflect the firm’s model of assembling specialists with proven track records in the most complex damages cases on the market, a discipline that demands technical rigour, strategic litigation capability, and the resilience to see matters through to conclusion”.
