Pérez-Llorca on 885 Capital stake acquisition in CD Leganés

Pérez-Llorca, alongside Sidley Austin for U.S. law matters, has advised 885 Capital on its acquisition of an 84.24% stake in CD Leganés from Blue Crow Sports Group. Combined with the 14.86% stake 885 Capital already held, the investment group now controls 99.1% of the Spanish football club, becoming its majority shareholder.

Deal details

885 Capital — an investment firm founded by Sudeep Ramnani and Jai Mahtani and specialised in sport, technology, and real estate — formalised the transaction, which consolidates its control over the Madrid-based club.

Blue Crow Sports Group had held the stake being transferred. Both CD Leganés and 885 Capital acknowledged the contribution of Blue Crow Sports Group’s members over the past four years to the club’s institutional and sporting development, as well as the work carried out by Jeff Luhnow during his tenure as president of CD Leganés.

885 Capital has appointed Eduardo Cosín as the new president of CD Leganés. Previously serving as executive vice-president of the club, Cosín — a Madrid native with a degree with honours in Law and Business Administration — joined the club in October 2022.
