Women hold over 60% of leadership roles at ICAM
The Madrid Bar Association (ICAM) has reported that women now represent more than 60% of leadership and responsibility roles within the organisation, according to internal figures released during Equality Week ahead of International Women’s Day on 8 March.
ICAM currently employs 205 professionals, of whom 133 are women (65%) and 72 are men (35%). The gender distribution is also reflected in leadership positions across the organisation.
Female leadership at ICAM
At management level, women account for 67% of positions, representing 10 of the 15 members of the leadership team. Among responsibility roles, women represent 60% of the total, with 21 women and 14 men holding these positions.
According to the organisation, these figures reflect internal policies aimed at strengthening equal opportunities in professional development and increasing women’s access to leadership roles.
Internal promotion and training
Promotion data between 2023 and 2026 also shows a majority of women advancing within the organisation. During this period, ICAM recorded 21 internal promotions, of which 14 corresponded to women (67%) and seven to men (33%).
By year, the figures show eight promotions in 2023, seven in 2024, four in 2025 and two in 2026.
Training has also been highlighted as part of the organisation’s development strategy. During the current mandate, ICAM reports more than 5,000 hours of training for employees, covering areas such as equality, leadership, taxation, accounting, public procurement, sustainability, artificial intelligence and big data.
The figures were released during the closing event of the first ICAM mentoring programme, an internal initiative aimed at strengthening professional development and leadership skills.
ICAM also noted that its governing board is composed on a parity basis for the first time in its history.
