PRA creates Tech, IP & Life Sciences department

PRA – Raposo, Sá Miranda & Associados has created a new Tech, IP & Life Sciences department, in order to address the growing legal needs of the technology, innovation, intellectual property and life sciences sectors. The new department is “a strategic practice designed to keep pace with the technological and regulatory acceleration that is transforming the global economy”, states PRA.

The department’s strategic and operational coordination is led by partner Daniel Torres Gonçalves (pictured), who heads a multidisciplinary team with experience across these areas. The structure includes Gonçalo Gil Barreiros as local coordinator in Lisbon and Augusto Almeida Correia in Porto, and also comprises lawyers Joana Aguiar Rodrigues, Pedro Rebelo Tavares, Rita Ferreira Ramos, Teresa Cubelo Soares, Joana Abreia Oliveira, Marina Bessa Sousa and Salvador Botelho Santos.

The new Tech, IP & Life Sciences department will provide legal advice to national and international companies, startups, investors and institutions, covering areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital identity, data and privacy, as well as the protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights. The practice will also advise on regulation and compliance in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, biotechnology and medical devices—fields that are increasingly demanding from a legal and regulatory standpoint.

Miguel Miranda, managing partner of PRA, notes that “this launch reflects the firm’s ability to adapt to our clients’ digital transformation, strengthening our position as a leading legal partner in highly specialised areas.”
