David Martínez, head of labour law in Catalonia at KPMG Abogados
KPMG Abogados has announced the appointment of David Martínez as a new partner in the Employment Law practice and head of the department in Catalonia. With more than twenty-three years of experience, David joins the firm to enhance its advisory services in labor and social security matters.

David Martínez
Martínez has developed his career at Uría Menéndez, where since 2008 has been involved in all types of cases, with a particular emphasis on his litigation profile. He has represented clients in both individual and collective disputes before all levels of the labor courts. He is also a specialist in negotiating complex matters, especially in collective bargaining, collective agreements, and collective dismissals, as well as all types of temporary layoff procedures (ERTEs).
The new partner also has extensive experience in the tourism sector, having advised the main players in the industry—including hotels, travel agencies, airline catering companies, and airlines—for over 15 years. Additionally, he is an expert in matters related to contracting and outsourcing (subcontracting, unlawful assignment of workers, and business succession).
In his academic work, since 2018 David has been an Associate Professor of Labour Law in the Law Degree program at the Instituto de Empresa (IE Law School) in Madrid. He also teaches the immigration law module in the Master’s in European Union Law at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and is a regular speaker at seminars.
Martínez holds a Law degree from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona and a Master’s in Labor and Social Security Law from the same university. He also holds a PhD in Law from the University of Valencia.
