Carlos Betoret, new counsel at Latham & Watkins
Latham & Watkins has announced the promotion of Carlos Betoret as a new counsel at the firm. This appointment is part of the annual promotion of associates, which includes 56 lawyers promoted to counsel and 40 associates promoted to partner, effective January 1, 2026. These promotions are in addition to the election of 19 counsels as partners earlier this year.

Among the new counsels is Carlos Betoret, a member of the Antitrust & Competition department in the Madrid office. Betoret advises international companies on competition law at the global, European, and Spanish levels, representing clients before the European Commission and the Spanish National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC) in matters of merger control, cartel investigations, and abuse of dominant position, as well as in horizontal and vertical agreements.
Before joining Latham & Watkins in 2018, he developed his professional career at other international firms such as Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. He is also an associate professor at the Centro de Estudios Garrigues, where he teaches courses on competition law.
