JPAB advises Unisana Hospitais on hospital management takeover

JPAB – José Pedro Aguiar-Branco Advogados has provided legal advice to Unisana Hospitais in connection with its assumption of management of the Hospital da Ordem Terceira do Chiado, marking the joint venture’s fifth investment in the healthcare sector. The Hospital da Ordem Terceira do Chiado delivers healthcare services across consultations, surgery, and complementary diagnostic procedures, distinguished by the humanisation of care and close patient relations.

Unisana Hospitais, a joint venture between Atena Equity Partners and 3T Portugal, positions itself in the healthcare market through its investment capacity and accumulated expertise, contributing to the growth and development of this hospital. The partnership will also foster synergies across its various units, particularly those in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, enhancing service quality, achieving economies of scale, and leveraging knowledge. This addition complements Unisana’s recent investments, including Hospital Particular de Almada, Hospital Soerad in Torres Vedras, a clinic in Santarém, and Hospital da Lapa in Porto, explains JPAB.

The JPAB team advising on this operation was led by of counsel Ramiro Matos (corporate & M&A, pictured), with support from trainee lawyer Miguel da Silva Diogo (corporate & M&A), partner Joana Carneiro, senior associate Daniela Carvalho Teixeira, associate Constança Pimenta (labor & employment), and senior associate João Pinto dos Reis (compliance).
