Devesa appoints David Montoya Medina as of counsel
Devesa Abogados has strengthened its employment practice with the appointment of David Montoya Medina, professor of Labour and Social Security Law at the University of Alicante, as of counsel
David Montoya Medina
Montoya holds a degree and a PhD in Law from the University of Alicante, where he has taught since 1995 and currently holds the Chair of Labour and Social Security Law. He also holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management and boasts an academic and professional career of the highest level.
The new of counsel has published numerous authoritative monographs, including Work in Contracting and Protection of Workers (2004), The Termination of the Senior Executive’s Employment Contract (2008), and Labour Protection and Social Security of Chronically Ill Workers (2020). His forthcoming work, Illness, Employment Contract and Health-Based Discrimination, will be published in 2025. In addition, he has directed collective works and has an extensive scientific output in journals and book chapters both in Spain and internationally.
Montoya has undertaken research stays at centres such as the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law (New York), the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Social Law (Munich), the University of Cambridge, and the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (Brazil). In his professional capacity, he combines his university chair with his role as an arbitrator at the Labour Arbitration Tribunal of the Valencian Community. In recognition of his career, he was distinguished as an Honorary Member by the Official College of Social Graduates of Alicante.
