BDO advises IAC on second hangar concession at Teruel Airport
BDO Abogados has advised International Aerospace Coatings (IAC), a global leader in aircraft maintenance and painting, on the award, modification, and expansion of its operations at Teruel Airport.
Following a lengthy public tender process, IAC has secured the concession of a new public domain plot at Teruel Airport. Under this new contract, the company will develop and build a second hangar dedicated to aircraft maintenance and painting. Construction has already commenced, with completion scheduled for late 2026. The project involves an investment of more than €25 million, an initial term of 40 years (with an option for a 10-year extension), and is expected to create 60 new jobs.
In addition, in 2025, the firm supported the company in a key contractual amendment extending the concession period for its first hangar from the original 25 years to 40 years, further strengthening the company’s long-term commitment to the region’s industrial development.
This latest mandate builds on the advice provided by BDO Abogados in 2022, when the firm assisted IAC in the public tender for the award of its first hangar at Teruel Airport. That facility, with the capacity to accommodate 40–50 aircraft per year, currently employs 90 people and marked IAC’s entry into the Spanish market and its consolidation in this strategic hub for the aerospace industry.
The legal team advising on this transaction was led by Concha Serna Sánchez de Mora, Manager of Public Law, and Javier Gómez-Ferrer Senent, Partner at BDO Abogados.
