Ontier appoints Michael O. Mena as Miami Managing Partner
Ontier has announced the appointment of Michael O. Mena as the new Managing Partner of its Miami office, marking a significant step in the firm’s expansion in the United States. According to the firm, Mena will play a key role in supporting clients with cross-border transactions and litigation spanning Europe, Latin America, and the U.S.
Mena brings extensive experience leading high-stakes commercial litigation before both federal and state courts in the U.S. His expertise covers areas such as business disputes, corporate governance issues, insurance litigation, and high-profile commercial cases. Prior to joining Ontier, he was a partner at several prominent law firms, including Akerman LLP, where his litigation work was recognized by leading international legal directories.
Beyond his legal career, Mena has a strong record of public service and community leadership. He previously served as Vice Mayor and Commissioner of Coral Gables and is an active member of the Orange Bowl Committee, maintaining strong ties within South Florida’s business and social community. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Miami and Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School.
This appointment comes as Ontier continues to expand its global footprint. Over the past year, the firm has launched a Middle East Desk, integrated new litigation and corporate M&A teams in Italy, and doubled the size of its Santiago office in Chile through the integration of Matthei Abogados. Ontier also recently named Javier Muñoz Martínez as its new International Director, consolidating its model of combining a global reach with deep local expertise.
