Cuatrecasas advises on the sale of part of Grupo Transfesa’s business

Cuatrecasas has advised Deutsche Bahn Group, the German state-owned railway operator, on the sale of part of Grupo Transfesa’s business to Boluda Shipping.

Following this transaction, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, the Transfesa Group’s activities will be led by two large business groups: DB Cargo and Boluda Corporación Marítima.

As part of its transformation, the Deutsche Bahn Group will focus its activities in Spain on the automotive sector (transport and logistics) and international freight transport.

Intermodal rail freight transport activities on the Iberian Peninsula, except for automotive traffic, together with rail maintenance, shunting, and terminal services, will be integrated into Boluda.

The firm team responsible for advising on the transaction was made up of lawyers Kai Christian Fischer, from M&A/German Desk; Irene Moreno-Tapia, from Competition; and Jesús García Aparicio, from M&A/German Desk.
