BPV Abogados launches IP practice with partner José Antonio Sanmartín
BPV Abogados strengthens its practice with the addition of José Antonio Sanmartín, formerly of Hoyng Monegier, as a partner. The new partner will head up the new Industrial and Intellectual Property practice at the firm’s Madrid office, which opened just a year ago.
José Antonio Sanmartín
Sanmartín has more than 30 years of experience in civil, M&A, and criminal litigation, with more than 20 of those years dedicated to industrial and intellectual property. His practice focuses on copyright, trademark, design, patent, unfair competition, and customs control litigation, having advised leading companies in the cultural, technology, and entertainment sectors.
Since 2015, he has represented the Motion Picture Association (MPA), the association that brings together the major US film studios, in Spain in all its legal actions against piracy, work that was recognized in 2022 with the MPA award for the best global anti-piracy strategy.
He is also a regular speaker at leading international forums, such as the Cannes Film Festival, the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) in Washington and Los Angeles, and the Content Overseas Development Association (CODA) in Tokyo, among others.
