David Diez, partner in charge of A&O Shearman’s regulatory department

As Iberian Lawyer has been able to confirm, A&O Shearman would have incorporated David Diez as partner in charge of its regulatory department in Spain. The lawyer joins from Watson Farley & Williams, where he has spent more than eleven years as a partner and head of the regulatory area.

David Diez

Diez specialises in regulated sectors and public law, with extensive experience in energy, environment, waste, public infrastructure and public procurement. Throughout his career, he has advised companies and financial institutions on significant transactions related to the financing, sale and development of renewable energy assets, including wind farms, biomass plants and photovoltaic and solar thermal projects.

Since 2014, he has served as secretary of the board of the Spanish Photovoltaic Union (UNEF) and is a founding member of AEDEN, the Spanish Association of Energy Lawyers.

Díez’s appointment comes a few months after the firm announced the appointment of Ignacio Hornedo as the new managing partner in Spain, a position he will effectively assume on 1 November 2025, replacing Antonio Vázquez-Guillén and Ignacio Ruiz-Cámara after an orderly transition period.
