Andersen expands in Málaga with MTA Legal integration
Andersen Iberia has integrated the Málaga-based firm MTA Legal, bringing into its Málaga office a team of 16 professionals specialised in corporate, tax and litigation practices. Among them, Emilio Martínez, founding partner of MTA Legal, joins as a new partner at Andersen. With this integration, Andersen’s office in the Costa del Sol capital now approaches 60 professionals, being seven partners, reaching a turnover of €6 million.
A multidisciplinary firm, MTA Legal focuses on business law, with a client portfolio made up of large and mid-sized companies from the city and the province.
A law graduate from the University of Málaga, Emilio Martínez has more than 20 years’ experience, primarily in corporate and tax law. He has furthered his training with the Advanced Course in Corporate Tax Advisory at ESIC, the Advanced Corporate Legal Programme at IE Law School, and specialist degrees in insolvency and corporate law from the International University of Andalusia, among others. He also sits on the boards of directors of several companies.
José Vicente Morote, managing partner of Andersen Iberia, stated: “The integration into Andersen of a firm of such quality, specialisation and knowledge of Málaga’s business fabric as MTA Legal brings us closer to our goal of becoming the leading firm in Málaga. However, we are not stopping here; we want to continue strengthening our teams to provide our clients with the best possible advice on their matters and transactions.”
For his part, José Miguel Soriano, Andersen partner and head of its Málaga office, explained that the incorporation of MTA Legal is another step in the firm’s strategy in the city and region, “which rests on three pillars: having partners or professionals of the highest level in all areas of business law; pursuing maximum specialisation in each practice, and ensuring our teams are from Málaga or have deep knowledge of the local environment, idiosyncrasies and business fabric.”
Finally, Emilio Martínez, new partner at Andersen, highlighted that the reasons for the merger are: “first, to have a broader and more robust structure that enables us to fully and reliably meet the increasingly complex needs of our clients. Second, to offer talent a more complete, structured career with an international focus, as well as the chance to work on highly sophisticated matters and transactions.”
