Cuatrecasas advises the EIB and Banco Santander on the co-financing transaction to build five industrial plants
Cuatrecasas has advised the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Banco Santander on the signing of a €224 million financing agreement with Greene Enterprise to build five industrial plants in Spain, which will transform more than 200,000 tons of waste per year into raw materials for industry. The EIB will provide approximately 50% of the financing, while the remaining 50% will be provided by Santander.
These facilities, which will enable the transformation of this waste into high value-added products for industry, are located in Muel (Zaragoza), La Selva del Camp (Tarragona), San Cristóbal de Entreviñas (Zamora), Madridejos (Toledo) and As Somozas (A Coruña).
The construction and commissioning of the Valogreene plants contributes to European public policy objectives on climate action and the circular economy, as well as to the development of the local economy and employment in the towns where they are located.
The firm team advising Banco Santander was made up of lawyers Tomás Ugalde, Álvaro Pérez-Iriondo, Teresa Allende, and Unai Arredondo, with the support of Nerea Arana and Garazi Azpiazu in the due diligence process. The team advising the EIB was made up of Héctor Bros, Pol Solsona, Mireia Martínez, and Adrián Coca.
