Devesa Abogados advises Hosbec on the signing of the new hospitality sector collective agreement in Castellón

Devesa Abogados has provided legal counsel to Hosbec in the negotiation and signing of the new collective agreement for the hospitality sector in Castellón — a landmark achievement for one of the province’s key economic sectors. The signing took place at the headquarters of the Economic and Social Council of Castellón, alongside trade unions UGT and CCOO, and the employers’ association Ashotur.

The new agreement, which will remain in force until 31 December 2028, modernises and consensually regulates labour relations within Castellón’s hospitality industry, incorporating significant improvements across economic, organisational and social aspects.

The new collective agreement introduces a series of significant improvements for workers, including a 3.5% wage increase in 2025 with retroactive effect from January 1, as well as annual salary adjustments linked to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) until 2028. Career progression is also enhanced, with automatic promotion for assistants and support staff after 18 months of verified experience.

Seasonal permanent employees will benefit from improved conditions through a more transparent and secure recall system. The agreement also introduces greater flexibility in shifts and working hours, allowing for irregular working days within legal limits. Notably, it incorporates pioneering measures to promote work-life balance, equality, and non-discrimination, including the implementation of protocols against harassment and based on sexual orientation.

Finally, a review clause has been included to address potential changes should a reform introducing a 37.5-hour working week be enacted.

The legal team at Devesa Abogados, led by partner José Luis Valverde, played an active role throughout all stages of the negotiation.
