Telles strengthens team with three new additions

Telles has announced the integration of three new lawyers: Inês Santos and José Nuno Vilaça da Fonseca, associates, join the firm’ tax practice, led by the firm’s chairman, Miguel Torres. Gabriel Calaes, consultant, joins the international mobility and visas team, coordinated by partner André Gonçalves.

With ten years of experience, Inês Santos has developed her career across various areas of tax law, covering both domestic and international taxation. Her practice focuses mainly on tax litigation, customs matters, and social security issues. She transits from PRA – Raposo, Sá Miranda e Associados. Inês holds a law degree and a master’s in Legal and Economic Sciences from the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto, and a postgraduate diploma in European Customs Law from the Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University. In addition, she is a guest contributor and author of several articles for O Informador Fiscal, in partnership with CIJE – the Legal and Economic Research Centre, since 2016.

José Nuno Vilaça da Fonseca also joins the tax team, bringing experience in both domestic and international tax matters, and transiting from RFF Lawyers. He advises corporate and individual clients on a regular basis and has provided tax counsel in the context of M&A transactions and other corporate restructuring operations, real estate deals, compliance matters, and investment restructuring, both in national and cross-border contexts. Fonseca holds a law degree and a master’s in Tax Law, both from the Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University. He also holds an Advanced Professional Certificate in International Taxation (APCIT) from the IBFD – International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation, and has completed specialised training in cryptoassets, taxation, and market regulation from IDEFF – Institute of Economic, Financial and Tax Law.

With a solid academic background and diverse practical experience, Gabriel Calaes, who transits from Vianna, Andrade & Niemeyer Advogados, has been advising clients on matters related to private international law, immigration and Portuguese nationality. His work has included handling international mobility processes and providing legal support to individuals and companies in regularising immigration status and obtaining residence permits in Portugal. He holds a law degree from Fundação Mineira de Educação e Cultura, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and completed additional studies at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. He also holds a postgraduate degree in Corporate Law from Fundação Getúlio Vargas in Rio de Janeiro and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Business Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.
