PwC Portugal appoints 11 new partners, two in legal

PwC Portugal has announced the appointment of 11 new partners, that take on strategic roles across the firm’s various areas — technology, consulting, audit, tax, and legal. “With these appointments, PwC aims to consolidate its position as a benchmark in both the national and global markets, and to respond to evolving challenges with renewed, forward-looking leadership”, states the firm.

The newly appointed partners are Carlos Jerónimo (advisory), Fernando Lança Martins (legal), Gonçalo Leite Monteiro (assurance), Iolanda Gonçalves (assurance), José Miguel Teixeira (assurance), Luís Corte-Real (advisory), Mariana Pizarro Santos (tax), Nuno Melo Loureiro (advisory – Data & AI), Roberto Bilro Mendes (assurance – financial services risk & regulation), Tiago Silva Abade (legal), and Tito Tavares (advisory – digital transformation and PMO).

PwC new partners’ profile

Carlos Jerónimo: With a degree in Industrial Management Engineering, he has over 25 years of experience leading business and digital transformation projects. Jerónimo has held executive positions at SAP, Qlik Software, Reditus, and Glintt, overseeing large-scale initiatives in telecom, energy, transport, automotive, and food sectors across Europe and Africa. He currently leads PwC’s Business Transformation Advisory practice for non-financial clients in Portugal, Angola, and Mozambique. He also heads PwC Portugal’s SAP alliance and is Sales Director for the SAP alliance in PwC EMEA.

Fernando Lança Martins: He holds a Law degree from Universidade Católica Portuguesa and a post-graduate degree in Tax Management from ISEG. Martins began practicing law in 2007 and joined PwC in 2024 as Head of Tax Controversy & Dispute Resolution. He specializes in tax audits and litigation before the Portuguese Tax Administration, national courts, and the European Court of Justice, covering all types of direct and indirect taxes, regulatory fees, and EU/international tax issues. He is also a frequent speaker and contributor to tax publications.

Gonçalo Leite Monteiro: A certified auditor, Monteiro holds a degree in Business Management from ISG and a post-grad in Advanced Accounting and Tax from ISCTE Executive Education. He joined PwC in 2006 and has focused on auditing industrial and service sector clients, particularly in real estate, transport, logistics, and agrobusiness. He has also completed PwC leadership programs including Leaders of the House and the Advanced Development Program.

Iolanda Gonçalves: Also a certified auditor with the same academic background as Monteiro, she joined PwC in 2006 and developed her career in audit for industrial and service sectors, with recent focus on real estate, logistics, and agrobusiness. She has completed multiple leadership and management programs within PwC.

José Miguel Teixeira: He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Porto and a post-grad in Fraud Management. Teixeira is a certified auditor, CFE, CIA, and CRMA. He joined PwC in 2009 and moved to the Risk Assurance Services team in 2016. He now leads the Internal Audit & Data Analytics practice in Portugal, Angola, and Mozambique. He is also a lecturer and speaker in internal audit and risk management forums.

Luís Corte-Real: With a degree and master’s in International Economics, Corte-Real has 15 years of experience in technology consulting. He joined PwC in 2021 and focuses on Customer Transformation, supporting digital transformation projects. He also leads PwC’s strategic alliance with Salesforce in Portugal, Angola, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.

Mariana Pizarro Santos: With a degree in Business Management and an Executive Master in Audit and Management Control, Santos has completed several leadership programs at IESE, Universidade Nova, and PwC EMEA. She represents Portugal in the EMEA TP M&A and VCT networks, teaches transfer pricing in postgraduate and executive MBA programs, and is a trainer at PwC’s Academy.

Nuno Melo Loureiro: With a management degree from Nova SBE and a master’s from Católica Lisbon SBE, Loureiro specializes in Data & AI and leads this area across Portugal, Angola, Mozambique, and Cape Verde. He also coordinates PwC Portugal’s AI Platform, advising on data strategy, analytics, and generative AI implementation. He has held management roles in banking, education, and tech sectors and leads AI transformation projects across various industries.

Roberto Bilro Mendes: With a Law degree and multiple postgraduate qualifications in corporate governance and finance, Mendes focuses on commercial, banking, and financial markets law, particularly compliance, culture, and internal controls. He is Head of Financial Services Risk & Regulation for PwC in Portugal and Lusophone Africa, and co-leads the PwC SSM EBA Office for Compliance & AML from Frankfurt. He is a published author and frequent lecturer.

Tiago Silva Abade: He holds degrees and postgrads in international tax planning, corporate and public law, with studies at Münster University and Católica Lisbon. Abade coordinates PwC’s Public, Regulatory & Data Protection practice and has worked with both public and private entities in Portugal and Africa. He has contributed to legislative reforms, including GDPR-related laws.

Tito Tavares: An economist with 17 years of experience in digital transformation and PMO, Tavares is certified in SAP and Microsoft tech. He has worked in Portugal, Luxembourg, and several African countries, especially in financial services and oil & gas, and has built multicultural teams across regions. He also teaches and frequently speaks on digital innovation and transformation.
